Our Mission

The Science Diplomacy Center’s purpose is to enhance understanding and applications of science diplomacy with informed decisionmaking and common interest building for sustainable development. The Science Diplomacy Center has three major areas of focus: Education, Action, and Research. We aim to educate the next generation of science diplomats; facilitate research that reveals evidence and options that contribute to informed decisionmaking; and lead science-diplomacy networks that build common interests across our globally-interconnected civilization.

To support this mission, we’ve launched a set of strategic initiatives. Each initiative is guided by a set of core inclusion-defining questions: How, Why, When, Where, What, and Who. These questions help us shape inclusive efforts and measurable impacts.

Our Plan

Educate: We are committed to equipping the next generation of science diplomats with the tools and knowledge they need to lead. Our educational efforts include developing immersive learning experiences, open-access resources, and cross-cultural forums that foster science-policy literacy and global collaboration. We prioritize accessible, inclusive education models that prepare individuals to engage effectively in international science diplomacy.

Act: We aim to initiate and support real-world, impact-driven efforts through the use of scientifically driven policies powered by collaborative partnerships. This involves designing and launching community-driven programs and facilitating international dialogues. By enabling stakeholders to engage directly with climate, health, and technology challenges, we seek to enable impact-driven action using science diplomacy as the key tool for tangible global action.

Research: The Science Diplomacy Center Inc. (SDCI) is committed to advancing applied research that informs better decisions, supports innovation, and strengthens diplomacy. Our research efforts focus on collecting and sharing evidence that bridges disciplinary and cultural gaps. We choose work that is action-oriented, inclusive in scope, and open to collaboration, supporting a research agenda that addresses global challenges through a science-diplomacy lens.
